Santino Ysasi

Santino Ysasi was murdered during the overnight hours on October 19, 2022 and his family is searching for answers and closure.  To assist Grand Rapids Police in receiving crime-solving information, Santino’s family has increased Silent Observer’s $3,200 reward to $5,000 for tips leading to the person(s) responsible for his death. Santino, also known as “Taco” was tragically murdered in the area of St James Catholic Church on Bridge ST NW near Cadwell Ave NW.

DIED July 19, 2020

Jordan Ginns

On July 19, 2020 at 2:20 a.m., Jordan Ginns was shot multiple times in the driveway of 755 Turner Ave NW in Grand Rapids and died from his injuries.  Police believe there may have been people involved in the planning leading up to the murder and escape of the suspect from the crime.  Jordan was just 24 years old. Jason Salazar

Jason Salazar, a son, brother, father and friend, was murdered on 4/24/06. After all this time the person responsible has not been identified. Before his death, Jason worked as a certified nursing assistant at a local home for the disabled where he loved interacting with his patients. He also had a close, loving relationship with his then 7-year old daughter. Justice is so important for the families of victims of crime because justice and answers bring peace, acceptance, and closure. Kenneth Turpeau

Police Need Help with Hit & Run Death.  On Friday, February 25, 2022 at 8:20 p.m. the Wyoming Police Department responded to a pedestrian that had been struck on 32nd St. near Badger Avenue SW.  Kenneth Turpeau, 62, was found with critical injuries, and later died at the hospital. The vehicle that struck Mr. Turpeau did not stop at the scene of the crash. Witnesses describe a potential suspect vehicle as a white or cream color smaller style SUV.  This vehicle was last seen driving south on Woodward Avenue from the scene.  If you know who was involved, now is the time to speak up. DIED November 27, 2020

Cynthia McCoy

Who killed Cynthia McCoy?  On 11/27/2020 at 12:30 pm, Cynthia was walking home on Burton St SW and at the intersection of Alba Ave SW, she was shot. An unknown black male, approximately 6’0’’ wearing dark clothing and a dark colored COVID 19 cloth mask, approached Cynthia on foot, where she was then shot.  The suspect was seen fleeing on foot to the north (Alba Ave) and it is believed he entered a gray/silver colored sedan style vehicle, which then fled the area to the north.  Cynthia died as a result of the gunshot wounds. Wyoming Police are looking for continued involvement from the public with any information that may assist in their continued investigation of this tragic murder.  Anyone with information about Cynthia’s homicide is urged to contact anonymously at Silent Observer at 616.774.2345 or silentobserver.org. DIED 02/05/1981

Deanie Peters

Dean (Deanie) Marie Pyle Peters went missing February 5, 1981 from Forest Hills Central Middle School in Ada, Michigan. She had brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a brown ski jacket and a pink sweater. She was 14 years old and 5’3″ tall when she disappeared.

At around 5:00 PM on February 5, 1981 there were several events at Forest Hills Central Middle School including a women’s exercise class, band practice, high school night classes, and a boys wrestling practice. A Donkey basketball game was also scheduled for later in the evening at the neighboring high school. Deanie was with her mother at the middle school to attend her brother’s wrestling event when she went missing. During the event Deanie told her mother she was going to use the rest room and that was the last time her mother would see her. Deanie walked toward the restroom, exited the gymnasium doors and disappeared.

Several theories of her disappearance have been investigated over the years. Investigators have interviewed hundreds of people, explored countless tips, traveled to many states, and searched several possible burial locations. Wesley Carroll

Who Killed Wesley Carroll? On March 29, 2017 at 12:24 a.m., Grand Rapids Police were called to the 100 block of Putnam on a report of gunshots. When they arrived they found Wesley Carroll, 52, outside a residence shot to death. Now is the time to speak up to help solve Wesley’s death. DIED July 2, 2021

Michael Eamus

On July 1, 2021 just before midnight, the Kent County Sheriff Office responded to Cascade Rd SE just north of 36th St SE on a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. Deputies responded and found 50-year-old Michael Emaus, from Waterford, lying on the ground, unresponsive. He would later die from his injuries.

The investigation revealed Michael was visiting friends nearby and rode a one-wheel motorized skateboard to the store prior to the accident. On his way back he was riding in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle and driver have not been identified. James White

On 10/15/2020 at 10:38 p.m. Grand Rapids Police were dispatched to the area of Eastern AVE SE and Oakdale ST SE because of a report of gunshots.  Officers located the victim, James White 09/25/1986, in the alley between Adams ST SE and Oakdale ST SE west of Eastern AVE SE. DIED June 25, 2021

Arthur Brown

Grand Rapids Police Officers were dispatched to the BP Gas Station, 2763 Madison AVE SE on 06/25/2021 at 11:29 p.m. and found Arthur Brown 09/15/1987, inside of his vehicle deceased with a gunshot wound. Video obtained by police shows two suspects approaching Arthur’s vehicle from the north along the sidewalk of Madison AVE SE. The suspects approached Arthur’s vehicle and fired shots prior to the suspects fleeing the area. One suspect was a black male, tall, in a white t-shirt, black pants, and black ski mask. The other suspect was a black male, skinny, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with hood up, and possibly had glasses. DIED August 22, 2021

Lamont Nelson

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, Grand Rapids Police received multiple 911 calls about shots fired. Patrol officers arrived and found the crime scene nearby in the 1500 block of Linden Avenue SE. While officers were investigating the shooting, four victims arrived by private transport to area hospitals. Lamont Deshawn Nelson was pronounced dead, another was in serious condition and two others received non-life threatening injuries. GRPD said there were over 100 rounds fired from multiple weapons and more than 100 potential witnesses to the shooting. Damon Bradley

Damon Bradley, 43, was murdered November 15, 2020. He was shot in the area of Plainfield and Caledonia. The suspect approached on foot, prior to shooting the victim, and is described as 5’9” to 6’ tall, wearing dark pants, a blue hooded sweatshirt, a surgical mask and white/black tennis shoes. Deon Floyd

Deon Floyd 23, was shot and killed on October 16, 2020 on the 700 block of Watkins SE. Jordan Rashawan Ginns

DIED December 5, 2019

Manuel Salgado

On 12/5/2019 at approximately 8:10 pm Grand Rapids Police Department  responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Lincoln NW. Upon arrival officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Manuel Salgado, 22,  received life threatening wounds and died at the scene. A female received less serious wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The victims were confronted by two suspects prior to the shooting. The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1: B/M, 20-30 years of age, 6’0″- 6’4″, dark complexion, braided hair, mustache.
Suspect #2: B/M, 6’0″, 40-50 years of age, dark complexion.

DIED November 3, 2019

Terell Marquise Mapp

Terell Mapp, 31, was murdered on 11/3/19 in the 1800 block of 28th Street SE. Officers were called to that location at 2:56 a.m. because of 4 subjects fighting in the parking lot of a commercial building. The fight allegedly stemmed from an “after-hours” party that was occurring at a business. While officers were addressing the fight, shots rang out from inside the building. The crowd began spilling outside, bringing with them Terell Mapp who had been shot. Officers pulled him to safety and began life saving efforts but he succumbed to his injuries.

Terry Junior Wilks

Grand Rapids Police were dispatched to the area of Diamond and Sigsbee SE on September 21, 2019 at 3:20 a.m. because of a shots fired report.  Upon arrival, officers found Terry Wilks, 64, with multiple gunshot wounds.  He was transported to the hospital but later died from his injuries.  Police are asking those with information about Terry’s death to contact Silent Observer anonymously at 616-774-2345 or by clicking on the Submit A Tip button on this web site.

Markese Boyd

In the early morning hours of September 21, 2019, Grand Rapids Police were called to the 1000 Ionia on a report of a shooting.  While trying to locate a victim, officers were notified that Markese Boyd, 29,  had just arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his neck.  He died later at the hospital.  Markese’s family said that the shooting may have stemmed from an argument earlier in the night.  Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Silent Observer anonymously at 616-774-2345 or by using the Submit A Tip button on this web site.

Jeffrey Mathews

Grand Rapids police believe Jeffrey Mathews, 60, was the unintended victim of a shooting that took place around 2:30 am, September 8, 2019, on the 1000 block of Clancy Ave. NE. Police believe there was a large crowd in the area prior to the shooting and sadly, there may be witnesses that have not come forward. Lou Cleveland Luckett III

Gerald Lamar Love

Gerald Love was shot multiple times while he was working as a tow truck driver on the 400 block of Crawford SE back on November 13, 2017. Gerald was in that area to help someone who had locked their keys in their car. Gerald was rushed to the hospital but he passed away. Brian Martinez

Grand Rapids Police responded to 3853 Camelot SE at 11 p.m. after receiving a call about the sound of gunshots in the area. When officers arrived they found Brian Martinez, 30, lying on the ground unconscious. Medical units could not revive him and he died at the scene. A bystander told officers that a male in dark clothing was seen between two buildings and pulled out a handgun as he walked directly to Brian and shot him.

Terrence Stokes

Terrance Stokes, 19, was found dead from gunshot wounds on a back porch on the 200 block of Travis St. NE at 12:30 a.m. Neighbors found him slumped over and called police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors heard what sounded like six gunshots but wrote them off as fireworks. Terrance was living in Detroit but was in Grand Rapids visiting a friend.

Mary Morrison

Mary Morrison was found dead inside her apartment at the Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community on July 19, 2011. She had been strangled with an electrical cord. Mary, who was 89 years old, lived at the retirement community for 12 years prior to her death. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has conducted hundreds of interviews and collected numerous pieces of evidence and continue to work diligently to solve the case and bring closure to the family.  The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about Mary’s homicide to contact Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or at silentobserver.org. Alan Foster

At 11:23 p.m. on July 15, 2006, the Grand Rapids Police Department was called because shots were fired near Straight and Butterworth SW. Once there, police found that Alan Wayne Foster, 41, had a gunshot wound to his chest. Alan died a short time later after arriving at the hospital. The suspects are described as two black males, 5’10” – 6’1”, in their early 20’s. They were last seen fleeing north from the scene.

Bonnie Oom

Bonnie Oom was last seen at Riverside park at 5:30am on September 4, 1986. She was an avid walker and was taking her morning walk at the time she disappeared. Her body was found 3 days later near Pickeral Lake Park in the Rockford area. She had been brutally beaten to death. Kathleen Vanslyke

On July 23, 1993 at 3:30pm, Kathleen Vanslyke, a 45 year old mother & wife, was shot at close range while she waited in her car in a parking lot near Burton and Eastern SE. After the shooting, Vanslyke’s car rolled backwards and collided with an adjacent building. The location was a busy area surrounded by businesses, including the former Old Kent Bank & Silver Derby.
