On December 27, 2020 at 8:30 pm, Grand Rapids Police received several calls about shots fired in the area of Thomas St SE / Dolbee Ave SE. When Officers arrived they located Marquis Townsend who had been shot. He tragically died from his injuries a short time later. Marquis was only 28 years old. A black male wearing a black hat, black mask, gray sweatshirt and black pants was seen fleeing on foot from the area after the shooting.
